Each office under the Clerk of Records has specific state and local mandated functions and responsibilities.<\/p>\n\t\n\t<p>The Erie County Clerk of Records oversees the following offices, pursuant to Erie County\u2019s Home Rule Charter:<\/p>\n\t<ul>\n\t\t<li>Clerk of Courts \u2013 maintains records for criminal courts<\/li>\n\t\t<li>Prothonotary \u2013 processes and maintains civil court records<\/li>\n\t\t<li>Recorder of Deeds \u2013 reviews, records and indexes documents relating to real estate<\/li>\n\t\t<li>Register of Wills \u2013 maintains records relating to estates and the probate of wills.\n\t\t<ul>\n\t\t\t<li>Clerk of the Orphans\u2019 Court \u2013 maintains records relating to adoption and guardianship<\/li>\n\t\t\t<li>Marriage Licenses Bureau \u2013 maintains records relating to marriages<\/li>\n\t\t<\/ul><\/li>\n\t<\/ul>\n\n\n\t<p>Aubrea Hagerty-Haynes was elected in 2021 as the Erie County Clerk of Records. Aubrea began her public service career as an executive secretary in the District Attorneys Office before she became an employee at the Clerk of Courts in Erie County. Aubrea was quickly promoted to be a Sr. Criminal Records Clerk\/Coordinator in the office before she became the Department Head and First Deputy Clerk of Courts in 2018.
