Clerk of Records Aubrea Hagerty-Haynes

The Erie County Clerk of Records performs the duties of the Clerk of Courts, Prothonotary, Recorder of Deeds, Register of Wills and Clerk of the Orphans’ Court divisions, according to all legal authorities governing those bureaus. Each office under the Clerk of Records has specific state and local mandated functions and responsibilities.

The Erie County Clerk of Records oversees the following offices, pursuant to Erie County’s Home Rule Charter:

  • Clerk of Courts – maintains records for criminal courts
  • Prothonotary – processes and maintains civil court records
  • Recorder of Deeds – reviews, records and indexes documents relating to real estate
  • Register of Wills – maintains records relating to estates and the probate of wills.
    • Clerk of the Orphans’ Court – maintains records relating to adoption and guardianship
    • Marriage Licenses Bureau – maintains records relating to marriages

Aubrea Hagerty-Haynes was elected in 2021 as the Erie County Clerk of Records. Aubrea began her public service career as an executive secretary in the District Attorneys Office before she became an employee at the Clerk of Courts in Erie County. Aubrea was quickly promoted to be a Sr. Criminal Records Clerk/Coordinator in the office before she became the Department Head and First Deputy Clerk of Courts in 2018. Since taking office as Clerk of Records, Aubrea has made significant technology upgrades, including implementing e-recording and e-filing in the offices and has overseen the implementation of new case management systems in the Prothonotary’s office and the Register of Wills & Orphans’ Court Divisions.

Aubrea is a life long resident of Erie County and lives in Millcreek Township with her children.
